When one business uplifts its property, it creates a ripple effect that encourages neighboring properties and outside investors to take notice. In keeping with that idea, the city aims to spark future investment in Athens’ static retail areas by helping to improve their visual and functional appeal.
Obtaining funding through the Opportunity Council Districts program is done through a competitive application process, and early submissions are highly encouraged. The deadline for all submissions is June 15, 2026.
