BOXES AND LOCKETS
TEEN METALS
(5 WEEKS)
(10 WEEKS)
AGES 10-14
This class will introduce students to
basic techniques for etching to create
texture, patterns and images on metal.
Experiment with different resists such
as spray paint, paint pens, permanent
ink stamp pads, PNP paper, nail polish
and adhesive film. Etched plates may
also be used to texture metal using the
rolling mill. Surface treatments will be
discussed.
Adorn your home and yourself with
unique boxes or lockets to hold your
special treasures. Learn to design and
make intriguing metal containers
using various methods of construction,
lids, mechanisms and functions.
Boxes that slide, hinge, move and
clasp will be introduced.
Prerequisite: Two sessions Beginning
Metalsmithing or instructor approval.
PNP paper and metal will be available
for purchase.

design and development of more
advanced technical skills.

MECHANISMS FOR JEWELRY
AND OBJECTS
(5 WEEKS)
Teen metals is set up to create an
atmosphere to explore and create
jewelry and metal sculpture. Students
will learn basic sawing, texturing,
soldering and stone setting skills. All
materials included.

FORMING AND CONSTRUCTION
FOR JEWELRY
(10 WEEKS)
Create unique, three-dimensional
forms for jewelry by learning to
combine hammered metal forms with
construction techniques. Perfect
your soldering skills by learning to
properly fit complex curves and edges.
Forming processes including sinking,
raising, planishing and forging will
be addressed. Projects will include a
ring, pendant, brooch and bracelet.
Design approaches to achieving
finished projects will be emphasized.
Prerequisite: Intermediate
Metalsmithing or Forging and
Forming.
METAL CLAY
WORKSHOPS

Gears, cogs, bits and bobs will be
combined with Art Clay Copper to
create this fun & trendy bracelet.
Learn to form and embellish curved
bracelet links in an easy to work
with material that can be torch fired.
Students can expect to complete one
bracelet. Matrerial fee includes up
to 100g copper clay and necessary
findings. Additional materials
available for purchase.
No prior metal clay experience
required.

INTRODUCTION TO GOLDIE
BRONZE JEWELRY
Get the look of gold without the
cost. Goldie Bronze clay has a rich
golden color and is easy to sculpt
with. We’ll start with a set of simple
reversible earrings or pendant.
Next we’ll create a textured, curved
bracelet link. Goldie Bronze takes
approximately 2 hours to fire, during
which time we will construct the rest
of the bracelet. Material fee includes
50g Golden Bronze clay, variety of
materials for bracelet completion and
CZ gemstones. Additional materials
available for purchase.
