Travel Destination: Washington, D.C.

Washington, D.C., is an amazing place to visit. I was able to visit Washington, D.C., for my Chorus trip. There are a lot of things to do and see while you’re in Washington, D.C. While I was there, I was able to see the Lincoln Memorial, which was fascinating to see in person. I was also able to see the White House and was able to get my picture in front of it. I was also able to go to Ford’s Theater where President Lincoln was killed. It was incredible getting to see a muscial in the theather. The muscial that we saw was the 25th annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. A really neat memorial that I was able to see was the Iwo Jima Memorial. There were a lot of memorials in Washington, D.C. While I was at the Lincoln Memorial, I was also able to see the Washington Monument. While we were there, they were putting scaffolding on the Washington Monument because an earthquake hit the monument and destoryed part of it in 2011. A place you can eat at is Phillip’s seafood; they also have regular American food there and not just seafood. It was an all you can eat seafood buffet and it overlooks the river that separates, Maryland and Washington, D.C. There were a lot of Starbucks as well that I saw while I was there. Another fascinating place that I was able to visit was the Smithsonian Museums. I was able to see the real Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights and the Constitution. Finally, there is the Holocaust Memorial Museum that you can visit. It was another highlight of my trip, to see this museum because it was very intersting and I learned a lot about the Holocaust that I never knew before. It is also very sad, but it is a lifetime experience getting to see the museum in person that I will never forget. If you ever have the chance to go on vacation anywhere, I recommend going to Washington, D.C. because it is an incredible place to visit. There is so many things to see and do there. I would go there again if I had the chance, I loved it a lot.
