Which source is appropriate?

What resources you use depend on the purpose of your search journey. For casual knowledge in your everyday life, websites like Wikipedia or popular magazines may meet your needs.

It's important to ask yourself what you want to know, and then ask, "What is the purpose of source X?" If you want to find the best hotel, you do not ask Hotel X, "Are you the best?" You look at review sites to find hopefully non-biased information.

Here's a quick look at matching sources to your search needs. Visit the LibGuide on evaluating sources.

Academic papers may use a combination of books, newspapers, and scholarly journals.

With information from governments, newspapers, researchers, and political groups online, it can be difficult to find the right information.
