Safer Moving & Handling
The Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and
Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR)
1995:
Requires that accidents at work which result in an employee having
more than 7 days injury, be reported.
The number of day is calculated including weekends and rests days
but not the day of the accident. (This must be reported within 15
days)

Provision and Use of Work Equipment 1998
(PUWER):
Requires that equipment provided for use at work, including
machinery is safe.

Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment
Regulations (LOLER) 1998:
Covers all lifting equipment used in the workplace. All lifting
equipment must be serviced on an annual basis.
Any piece of lifting equipment must display a service sticker saying
when it wa s last serviced and must have a tag on it stating the Safe
Working Load. This is the maximum amount of weight it can lift.
