Management of Health and Safety at Work
Regulations 1999:
Require employers to carry out risk assessments, make
arrangements to implement necessary measures, appoint
competent people and arrange for appropriate information and
training.

Manual Handling Operations Regulations
1992:
Uses a hierarchy of 3 measures:
?Avoid handling operations, that involve the risk of Injury
?Assess all manoeuvres, which cannot be avoided
?Take steps to reduce the risk of injury (Reasonably practical
steps)

Manual Handling Operations Regulations
1992 (amended 2002):
Covers the supply and maintenance of appropriate moving and
handling equipment and the training of staff in how and why it is
used.
