For the longest time I have wanted to do something like astrophysics , but how ? I want to be the one to see them with my very own eyes . I am ready to take the leap from the comfort of our planet and see what the universe has to offer .
But being only in eighth grade , what can I do ? It turns out - SO much more than I ever could have imagined — just because I have taken that leap towards my goal !
Last May , my local news station , NonStop Local KHQ , held a contest to find a Spokane-area student to become their “ Junior Journalist .” The recipient would then go to Houston , Texas , visit the Johnson Space Center , and interview some “ high profile people .” Of course , I immediately applied . I poured my heart into my essay and to my surprise , was awarded the title of Spokane ’ s “ Junior Journalist .” I went down to the space station and got to not only meet , but interview , Astronaut Anne McClain .
