Then give extra texture and shadow to the mountain by using a string grey with a dry brush . This is simply picking up the paint and wiping off the excess before applying . Use the side of the brush to give a wider texture . Focus the darkness on the right side of the mountain to give a dark side , add a few very-sparse shadows to the smaller mountain too . Use a strong brown to give some extra texture all over the larger mountain . This can go anywhere and if the masking tape has left some seepage , work this in with this dry brush . To paint the grassy banking , use a medium strength green and a few lines of brown .
Top Tip : A plastic card is used to create the shape to the grassy waters edge . Lay this flat against the water ' s edge and swiftly sweep up and to the left to scrape off the damp paint . If the area is dry , use a damp size 12 brush to reactivate . This technique works best with stronger paint .
