SCOUTING IN THE MOORLANDS
November. The event covered many activities
that are typically run at beaver and cub meetings.
They included a wide range of science, craft, food,
art and physical based skills, with the children and
adults having a go. Christmas decorations and
bird feeders were made and taken home along
with decorated biscuits. The fun continued with
making gloop, building electrical circuits and
making exploding volcanoes.
Skill, concentration and a bit of luck was
needed to construct a tower made of
marshmallows and spaghetti, but it was worth the
effort to build the biggest structure. All the boys
and girls seemed to enjoy the variety of activities
on offer and many names were taken for when the
future section is up and running.
The aim of the taster session was to highlight
the new section that is forming at Waterhouses
for beavers and cubs and will be up and running
very shortly. Anyone wishing to volunteer with the
meetings in any way will be more than welcome.
The more help available means the more the
leaders will be able to offer. Children aged
between six and 10 and a half, are very welcome
even if they missed the taster session. More
information and contact details are available from

Over at 1st Endon Scout Group a successful
fundraising event for Children in Need took place
at the end of last year. It is a popular event that
Endon has run for many years and has built a
great reputation for home-made food and great
entertainment.
The atmosphere was wonderful, as the small
band of waiters and waitresses served the food
which the committee had cooked. A beautiful four
course meal along with the group ‘Hope Street’ as
entertainment was a winning combination for a
great fundraiser. The raffles and quiz raised
further funds allowing Endon to ‘do their best’ for
Children in Need.
The ethos of scouting is to help others, and
even though Endon Scout Group is a charity and
has to raise its own funds to run the group, it is
more than willing to help Children in Need as it
supports children. If you are interested in helping
out with 1st Endon or indeed any scouting group,
volunteers are always welcome and have a wide
range of areas in which they can be useful. Please
