would really appreciate some extra help.
Running the camp requires a wide range of

accountants, managers, builders, joiners,
electricians, ground workers, handy people,

And of course for those with a more musical
penchant, the scouts have always been associated
with having their own military brass bands with
the Moorlands being no different.
The Scout and Guide Band is a traditional
marching band which meets on a Wednesday from
7pm to 8.30pm and any cub, brownie, scout,
guide, explorer or network member is welcome to
be a part of it. The band attends the St. Georges
“
day Parade, lead Remembrance Day, club day and
take part in many other civic ceremonial duties.
Members of the band learn drill and
deportment, instrument maintenance and
cleaning as well as uniform preparation. The
uniforms and instruments are provided with a
new musical repertoire learnt each week,
endeavouring to make their district and scout
association proud of the bands music, drill,
turnout and behaviour, with members finding
joining the band very beneficial due to the skills
they learn.
The band were recently given a £25 donation
from Leek’s Asda store and are supported by
GoGo Designs (embroiderers/printing) of Leek.
However they are always looking for any financial
help to assist with the running of the band,
uniforms, transport insurance and instruments.
Keep an eye out for them this year as they hope to
compete in a number of competitions as a member
of the Traditional Youth Marching Band
Association.
