WEDDINGS LIFE THROUGH A LENS... he birth of photographer Joe Scrivens’ first child, daughter Daisy was the inspiration for the name of his business venture One Little Daisy Photography which last year opened up in Leek. Although Joe has been taking pictures for a living for over five years now it was the birth of his son Finley which prompted the move of his business from his home in Leek to his very own gallery allowing more space for his growing family at home and separating his work life from his family life. Happily married to wife Janine, self taught photographer Joe now mainly specialises in wedding photography, children and newborns. For Joe the transition from teacher to working for a educational technology company allowed his creative juices to flow and as his own family started to take shape, so did the frequency of his photography until he was so busy he made it his full time occupation. The next stage of his career saw Joe, who originally hails from Kent, take on the lease to a beautiful old building in Leek’s St Edward Street, the former Bay Window shop which he has had the pleasure of overseeing its complete refurbishment into a modern, open and light gallery space where he can not only exhibit his photography work to its full potential but more importantly gives him a base to meet prospective couples who are looking for a wedding photographer. It puts a real personal and professional twist on the services that Joe can offer and gives a chance for couples to discuss their requirements face to face and get to know and feel comfortable with Joe who essentially they will be employing to capture one of the best and most precious days of their lives, its a huge responsibility which ever the professional Joe takes very seriously indeed. T 12 Leek Life January/February 2014 In terms of style Joe tends to favour a more photojournalistic approach which means that he likes to capture the events as they unfold rather than get in the way. As a big fan of the outdoors and capturing natural light photography, being on location shooting people in the natural environments is what the 34 year old really thrives on and something which is very evident from examples of his work that he has a true talent for. The realisation of his own gallery was a big step for Joe and the business, after being open since September last year trade has gone from strength to strength. Having a separate base to work from means Joe has the space for all of his top of the range digital and editing equipment to produce his work to the highest standard once he has taken the pictures. Joe is a very sought after wedding photographer and is very much in demand with only a handful of dates still remaining available for weddings next year. In one case he has had to turn down five different couples who have all approached him to shoot their wedding on the same weekend in July next year. If you are getting married or would like a family or new born shoot or are interested in meeting Joe and seeing his work for yourself pop into the gallery at 56 St Edwards Street, Leek or give him a call on Tel.01538 382713 to make an appointment. Joe is also on Facebook and has his own webpage you can check out at www.facebook.com/onelittledaisyphotography or www.onelittledaisy.co.uk.
