In our school there are about 1200 students aged 3 to 16. There are about 120 teachers and 30 administrative and auxiliary staff. It is situated in Leiria, which is in the centre of Portugal, about 120 kms from Lisbon. We have already promoted mobilities to around 500 people at our school within the framework of European partnerships. When we developed these projects, all the educational community participated in the development of activities.

The school has a large variety of students, the majority from working class families, a great percentage with low incomes, and to aggravate it, the repercussions due to CoViD 19 worsened the economic situation of already disadvantaged students.

Our school is the one, in our region, with the most immigrant and minority ethnicities students. Our students are registering a growing detachment towards significant participation in society and insensitivity about environmental issues and green practices to take for a sustainable future, especially the changes needed for a successful transition to become climate neutral by 2050.

Therefore it's pressing to encourage our youth to get involved in volunteering projects where they can realize they aren't secluded and alone but that they are part of a global community of young people who must strive to incorporate green practices and skills that will help them acquire a lifestyle that promotes sustainable development, for them and the ones they manage to influence.
