Pre-Medical & Pre-Dental Learning Community Newsletter spring 2014 PMPD LC Visits BAMC Four LC residents toured Brooke Army Medical Center on March 21. They visited the burn center, the medical education program, and the Center for the Intrepid, a cutting-edge facility for wounded Warriors. Special thanks to Dr. Banta for planning the tour and for driving! Welcome to Cody Walsh, LC RA for 2014-2015! Next year will be his third year as an RA and his first year as RA for the LC. In addition to all the normal duties of an RA, Cody will be planning social and educational out-of-class events for the LC. Cody is a junior majoring in Biology. Selected Events Bobcat Build: Eight residents volunteered at the annual community service project on March 29. Medical Explorers: Several residents became active in the organization this year and had a chance to visit the UT Health Science Center. Cody Walsh Resident Spotlight: Eryn Percenti Faculty Dinner: Several residents enjoyed dinner with Dr. Banta in Commons Dining Hall on April 15. Eryn received the “Academically Successful Bobcat Award” for the PreMed/Dent LC at the learning communities’ awards ceremony in April. Pre-Med/Dent LC Academic Achievements “The LC helped me to keep my grades up because we would all talk to each other and I liked already knowing people in class, because that made it easier to get to class.
