Journalism & Mass Communication Learning Community Newsletter spring 2014 Selected Events JMC LC Visits Webber-Shandwick and GSD&M! Residents not only got tours of the public relations and advertising firms on February 18, but also an introduction to Huts Hamburgers! Special thanks to Harry Bowers for his work and for driving! Cross the Line: RA Carlos Hernandez asked a series of questions about identity on November 8. Residents crossed the line if it applied to them. Residents felt that the event helped them appreciate diversity and have a better understanding of their community. Faculty Dinner: A few residents enjoyed dinner with John Zmikly in Commons dining hall on February 25. PUG Prep: LC study groups have been happening throughout the semester in preparation for the PUG! No-one has taken it yet… Who will be first? Career Advising: Allison Birk from Career Services stopped by Tower hall on January 29 to speak with the LC about their future. Resident Spotlight: Malik Mingo Malik Mingo Bobcat Build: Ten residents from the LC spent March 29 volunteering at Bobcat Build. It's really cool to live with people who have the same passions that you do. It's cool that we are in Careers in Media, which is a class we got to take. We talk about career exploration and then we actually get to go see those people in those careers with the LC. It was very beneficial . JMC LC Academic Achievements Fall 2013 LC average GPA: 2.99 Dean’s List students: 4 3.0 to 3.49 students: 11 Announcements  We’re extremely pleased to welcome Mr. Carlos Hernandez back as the LC’s RA for 2014-2015. In addition to being on the Dean’s List for the past three semesters and an RA, Carlos keeps himself busy as an orientation leader, fraternity member, and social media coordinator for the College of Fine Arts and Communication.  The LC is already full for 2014-2015.
