or I can post a short video to my story telling my students that a new lecture is up online and attach the link to it. I can take a picture of insect damage to turf and draw on the screen by circling the damage and writing the name of the insect right on the picture the potential is unlimited for the green industry and it is one of the quickest ways to get your content out there.

Snapchat launched in the summer of 2011 under the name of Picaboo and was only for the iPhones at first. It later expanded to the Android phones in October of 2012 and has been growing ever since. In late 2013, Facebook offered $3 Billion for Snapchat but CEO, Evan Spiegel, turned them down. So, you know if Mr. Zuckerberg wanted the application he knew it was going to be big. Since Snapchat refused the offer from Zuck, Facebook then acquired Instagram for a measly $1 Billion dollars and modeled the Instagram stories after Snapchat.

With Snapchat users growing every day it has become the third most popular apps among the 18-24-year-olds. Why is this important to me you might ask? 18-24-year-old do not buy landscaping services so why should I invest my time in this app? Well this group of people may not buy your services, but their parents do, and let me tell you that this is really the only way I can communicate with my kids. They don’t talk on the phone, they don’t text, they FaceTime and they “snap.” So, I had to get on board and change with the new forms of communication and I saw how it could grow my business. Believe it or not, the soccer moms and dads we all work for are on Snapchat so let’s give them something to look at. Don’t use Snapchat to sell your products or services, use it to educate and document your day.

People seeing your story board is all you need to do. Document, document, and more documentation is what people want to see. They don’t want to see a 10% off your first lawn care application coupon, they want to see that fertilize spreader being pushed with you talking about the benefits of lime for turf. Again, it's education that sells the job not your coupons. All the app requires are a little bit of time and this will go a long way in your marketing campaign.
