Sitting in a restaurant with my daughter Sierra, who was ten at the time, asked me for her Apple ID on her iPod so she could download an app. I said, “Sure sweetie, what app are you wanting to download?” And she replied, “Snapchat.” I had never heard of it. So, I began my research and fell in love with app and said this could be a massive thing in our landscaping business. So, you might ask what is Snapchat exactly? Well let me give you the scoop.
allow people to see the pics or “Snaps” up to ten seconds or indefinitely. You do not have to be so prim and proper with your punctuation as you do on Facebook and other platforms because it disappears. Your fellow “Snappers” are less likely to see your grammar mistakes. But what are we in the green industry? We are visual, and we want everyone to see our work so let’s start snapping! I will be honest with you that Snapchat is my favorite application to use. I not only communicate with my clients in my landscaping business but also with my students at the college I teach at.
It is the simplest way for me to get my content pushed out. I can take a picture of a new install we just completed and attach a link to our website where the portfolio is located, or I can post a short video to my story telling my students that a new lecture is up online and attach the link to it. I can take a picture of insect damage to turf and draw on the screen by circling the damage and writing the name of the insect right on the picture. The potential is unlimited for the green industry and it is one of the quickest ways to get your content out there.
