Quality Leadership University presents to the education community the 8th issue of Latitude magazine. This
issue explores topics concerning the diverse areas and lines of institutional research. The topics on this new issue of
the magazine are associated with the humanities, international business, economics and the environment.
Publications are written in English and Spanish.
This issue of the magazine begins with the article entitled “Development of Practical Cases and Experience-based
Education”, in which the author Germán Torrealba demonstrates the importance of case analysis and theory
of experience-based exercises such as didactic strategies in the teaching and learning process of Construction
Project Management.
In his article, “Innovation, Research Culture and the Growth of Knowledge”, Rolando de la Guardia hypothesizes
about the startup of a research culture in Panama beyond that of figures and indicators. The author analyzes
the concepts of “research culture” and “innovation” and especially how they apply to Panama.
Julio Mosquera Stanziola, through his article “The Phenomenon of Children or the ‘Difficult’ Task of Engaging,
Satisfying and Retaining Millennials”, affirms that it is becoming necessary for the business environment to be
in tune with current demands and go beyond simply satisfying a specific group or generation, in this case,
millennials. It is necessary for companies to be in harmony with what the author calls «philosophy on paper».
In the article “PC and Mac: Who Reigns the Computing Kingdom”, Oscar León explores the differences
between Mac computers and those that use the Microsoft system through variables such as stability, durability, price
and the types of hardware and software used by both devices.
Eric Molino, in the article “Understanding Market Failure: Do We Need More or Less Regulation?”, analyzes
the causes behind the flaws and recessions of the market associated to diverse economic policies and changing
economic situations.
In the article “This Business of Theater”, the author Professor Dealdon R. Watson using as an example an exercise
carried out on the first date of class at the start of his class, analyzes the importance of theater in the development
of critical thinking and teamwork between business students, the innovated leaders of the futures.
Lastly, we present in this edition the essay entitled “Nancy Morejón as a Cultural and Gender Mediator”, written
by Gabriela Suárez, who presents an analysis of race and gender immersed in the work of the Afro-Cuban
author. Nancy Morejon is one of the greatest representatives of the Afro-descendant movement of the Island;
Morejón writes about preconceived ideas of the role of the Cuban woman through literature such as the
poem “Mujer Negra”.
