Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort & Club in nearby Dana Point recently announced the completion of a $ 30 million refresh of its 400 guest rooms and suites . The new look comes on the heels of the property ’ s addition to the Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts portfolio last year . In partnership with Chicago-based Whitespace Interiors , the new design is inspired by the resort ’ s relaxed charm and the sun-splashed Orange County destination . The reimagined rooms all received new flooring , furnishings and finishes , featuring a coastal color palette and curated art collections . Upgraded fire boxes were installed for the 77 groundlevel Fireside Terrace rooms , which each have their own private fire pit that ’ s perfect for enjoying cool coastal evenings and roasting s ’ mores . The AAA Five Diamond resort also converted 20 of its studio suites into one-bedroom suites , which involved the expansion of a spacious living room separate from the bedroom plus enhancements to the private terrace . Next up , a refresh of the premium suites is slated to be completed this winter . Reminiscent of a sprawling seaside hacienda , the resort ’ s design updates are influenced by the Pacific Ocean with a little nod to local history . The Ranch at Laguna Beach has added a new installation of art by renowned American impressionist painter John Cosby , who has local roots as a founder of the Laguna Beach Plein Air Painting Invitational ; the display of artwork , which is inspired by California ’ s coast , will remain at the resort indefinitely and visitors may learn more about each piece , purchase it or connect with Cosby by scanning the nearby QR codes .
