Information Technology SoluA new pannkh in Fashion Retail Cap... The Indian fashion industry is now witnessing a great shift towards ecommerce. Consumers are becoming more and more tech-savvy by the day, which has in turn challenged the organized apparel retailers to invest more in e-tailing sector. Today’s youth forms the major customer base for fashion e-commerce, reason being that there is a playful competition among them as to who would be the earliest adopter of the latest trend. Apart from the young generation, Internet is known to climb the low rungs of the economic ladder at a much quicker rate as compared to the regular retail chains. It has also propositioned itself as a unique platform for budding entrepreneurs who want to make their mark in the field of fashion. And one such up and coming fashionista is Lovleen Fernandez, the pioneer of Pannkh an online fashion portal. This Delhi based fashion site which went live on 29th July, 2013 has opened its innings with twenty designs of Indo-Western kurtis and plans to include allied apparel categories in the future. Lovleen completed her Diploma in Fashion Apparel Designing from SOFT (School of Fashion Technology), Pune. She has three years of experience in the fashion industry, having previously worked for fashion brands like Shalky, KAZO and Femella. The idea of Pannkh was initiated from the fact that Lovleen did not just want to limit herself to the functioning of a boutique and was always keen on starting her own label by venturing into the e-commerce vertical. Barely two months into this venture and Pannkh has already created waves on social networking sites generating 4783 likes on Facebook and counting. It has received orders from metro cities like Mumbai and Chennai, as well as, Tier-II and Tier-III cities in Uttar Pradesh and the North-East. This in itself shows that how fashion ecommerce is able to reach out to various geographical masses.
