ROSEMARINO £6.50
Definitely wins the prize for the most crunch. And I mean crunch, these, very generously sized arancini require a lot of force when slicing through with a knife and fork. Which was greatly appreciated, Rosemarino clearly don’t mess about on their deep frying. The inside also performed well, no scrimping on the amount of mushrooms and a good rice. They lay upon crispy sage and a salsa verde which was most welcome. Not a gorgeous price of £6.50 though!
In conclusion, if you’re looking for a more cheesy experience head to Pizza Bianchi or Bosco. In my humble opinion, arancini is its best when it is a vegetarian dish, adding meat often makes it too rich. Truffle arancini always wins. Extra points if you provide a salsa or aioli for your arancini.
BOSCO £5
Two really massive cheesy chappies. Bosco gives you two handsomely sized arancini filled with Taleggio, resulting in a more authentic and rich ball. These may win the prize for being the most faithful to the original Sicilian recipe, they resemble more of a classic arancini al burro, only without the ham.
BIANCHIS RESTAURANT £3
This arancini was quite simply, a movie. To be fair a truffle and scamorza arancini will always come out on top, but the chive aioli that the little fella sat on just really topped it all off. Good large size, plenty of parmesan and surprisingly OK value for money. At £3, it’s cheaper than its counterpart at their brother restaurant Pizza Bianchi. This is hands down the best arancini in Bristol and I will be thinking about it for days to come.
