New Aarhus domicile on the rise
In the spring of 2022 , after nearly half a century at Rådhuspladsen , construction of our new Aarhus domicile in the South Harbour District began . It will be finished in 2025 .
VWe are set to be part of the new distinctive Aarhus skyline when we move in to occupy the top floors of the city ’ s new 26-storey modern high-rise building in the South Harbour District .
The new South Harbour urban area is being developed primarily by construction and development company A . Enggaard A / S in cooperation with AART Architects . The building project was launched five years ago , and in 2022 construction began in earnest , with the laying of concrete foundation and cornerstone and a naming ceremony .
Foundation is all-important to us As part of the construction process , we were invited to choose an “ artefact for posterity ” to be placed in the foundation of the building inside a so-called ‘ cornerstone box ’. We chose Kromann Reumert ’ s anniversary book from 2014 commemorating our 125th anniversary . It conveys stories about – and by – some of the many employees who are part of our firm ’ s history . Partner Jacob Møller explains :
“ Our employees are the cornerstone of our firm , and without them our foundation would crumble . We regularly consult and involve our employees and health and safety representatives in the development of our future workplace . We want to make sure our new offices meet their expectations and will be arranged so as to accommodate all wishes and needs as best possible ,” says Jacob and adds :
Mads Søndergaard , Project Manager of A . Enggaard , says :
" The construction industry is one of the biggest carbon emitters and among the biggest consumers of energy for materials production . Therefore , it is important for us to develop projects that are sustainable in both design and choice of materials , and for that we look at , for example , the energy consumption in the production of materials . But also for interior design , we have an eye for sustainability when it comes to , for example , accessibility for cleaning and daylight in offices , so that we also meet the requirements for DGNB certification ."
We cannot wait to take up residence there in 2025 !
Facts about our new office
• The building will be 26 storeys high .
• It will be called Akson , named for a nerve cell that emits impulses – a fitting name for what promises to be Aarhus ’ new business nerve .
• Ours will be the 20-25th floors , overlooking Aarhus from a height of approx . 82-102 metres . Our reception will be around 100 metres above sea level .
• DGNB Gold certification .*
* DGNB certification Based on German industry standard DGNB , the Green Building Council certifies the level of sustainability of buildings and urban areas . DGNB certifications are awarded to buildings on the basis of environmental , social and economic aspects of sustainability during development and construction of the building .
“ It ’ s important to us that when we do take up residence there , we ’ ll know that a lot of thought has gone into every detail in terms of sustainability . A new , modern domicile also lays a good foundation for a sustainable business environment ."
And much thought has indeed gone into every detail . According to PKA and A . Enggaard , joint clients and owners of the South Harbour District , the new building will meet very high standards , in terms of quality as well as sustainability . Among other things , the building will be DGNB Gold-certified .
