Summer sports news. up his December secondary schools 1500m victory, with a convincing win in the annual John Walker junior mile. Moynihan stayed in contact with the top field of 12 to the three quarter mark before putting his superior speed to effective use with a blistering last lap to win in 4m 12.93s. Another Old Collegian, Alex Parlane won the senior mile in 4m 16.08s.

ATHLETICS
At the annual College Athletics meeting in February six new records were set.
Congratulations to: Ben Mules- Intermediate 2000m steeples chase in 6m41.81, Latham Takau- Senior shot with 16m99cm, Thomas Monnery- Senior 400m in 50.19 and 800m in 1m54.79, Adam Ramsdale- 300m hurdles in 39.39 and 200m in 22.42
House Winners: Juniors: Peart, Intermediates: Selwyn, Girls: Selwyn, Seniors: Peart, Top House Relay:
School. The overall championship for 2013 was won by Selwyn.
In the Central Zone Athletic Meeting, King’ s athletes performed with distinction and qualified into the Greater Auckland finals in 49 events with the meeting highlight being an Auckland and New School and Open record to Latham Takua in the senior shot with a throw of 17.87m.
Harry Crawford and Richard Nelson Parker won New Zealand titles in Dunedin in the December Holidays in their events, Harry in AWD( AMP) Shot put( 9.01) and Discus( 24.65) and Richard the 100M and 200M AWD( CP) titles in 13.85 and 28.73.

Congratulations to the following students for their batting and bowling achievements in 2012 / 2013.
Bowling- Five wicket bags From last year the following students took fivewickets: Hamish Sinclair: 3rd XI against Sancta Maria, took 6 wickets for 14 on 10 November 2012. Scott Bevin: 2nd XI against Glendowie, took 6 wickets for 10 on 10 November 2012. Nathan Stanners: Colts against Mt Albert, took 5 for 21 including a hat trick on 16 February 2012. Hamish McLean: First XI against Westlake, took 5 for 29 on 23 February. William St John: Colts v Botany Colts, in 6 overs took 5 wickets for 31 runs on 8 February 2013. Ben Stiassny: 3rd X1 v Westlake, in 9 overs took 6 wickets for 32 runs on 8 February 2013.

It was another good season of rowing for the King’ s College Rowing Club commencing with an excellent regatta at the annual Head of Harbour event, in which it retained the overall points trophy and the trophy for winning the boys’ points for the regatta. Twenty-six crews were placed in races with the following results in‘ A’ division races:
1st places Boys U18 Quad: Sam Crompton Jack Sherratt, Luke Paterson, Ben Ganley and Cox Felix Tordeich. Boys U18 Double: Sam Crompton and Jack Sherratt.
2nd places Boys U15 Double: Harry Gill and Daniel Easton. Boys U17 VIII: James Cockram, Austin Rudkin, Simon Reeves, Will Badkin, James Bridgman, Nick Dougherty, Sirac Adams, Charles Benedek Rooney and Cox Louis Lambert. Boys U17 Double: Luke Paterson and Henry Fitzgerald. Girls U17 Single: Lydia Poole. U18 LW Double: Nick Dougherty and Will Badkin. Boys U17 Quad: James Cockram, Simon Reeves, Will Badkin, Charles Benedek Rooney and Cox Felix Tordeich.
