How do feel remote work has impacted the production in your agency ? How have you maintained any positive trends and combated any negative ones ? that were relocating and otherwise would be forced to resign due to life circumstances . Like most agencies throughout the country , the Covid pandemic forced us into a fully remote environment and from this experience we learned several great lessons . The most important being that productivity and job satisfaction can increase for employees working remote .
We attribute this increase to the improved efficiency one can realize when not facing the continuous distractions and interruptions that are normal to an office setting . This realization by management spawned an intentional effort to remove any negative stigma that may exist around employees who work from home and provide support to those high achieving employees who prefer and or require a remote structure . Furthermore , we no longer limit our talent search to the local labor pool . We now recruit nationally for positions in which we believe
Widman : As stated previously , I believe productivity has increased from the vast majority of those employees that have the option to work remote . The key to their increase in productivity is as much related to the quality of their character , responsibility and trustworthiness as it is to the management strategy and accountability measures taken by agency management .
Does your workflow process differ now that everyone isn ’ t together in the office ? If so , was there any new technology that helped you accomplish this ?
Widman : Workflow processes have not changed but it has required a concentrated effort to keep remote employees connected to the social fabric of their coworkers and occasionally to the clients they service .
How do you decide on changes to your agency ’ s process and workflow ? Are all the team members involved ?
