Preparing new Griffins for college-level research and exploring Mercy heritage
Gwynedd Mercy University ' s First-Year Experience program offers two opportunities to orient new students to Keiss Library and academic resources and research . During FYE 1000 , students learn about the physical space , collections , and website to build a foundation for information literacy . Then , FYE 1001 provides the opportunity for librarians to expand on the initial orientation with research instruction for assignments highlighting GMercyU ' s Mercy heritage . Most importantly , new students glimpse what a valuable resource the library and its librarians are for their academic careers .

" During the 2021-2022 academic year , the First-Year Experience department and the library staff collaborated to enhance the information literacy resources in FYE-1000 and FYE-1001 . We worked together to enrich the classroom presentations in both courses , increase the resources to help students with current and future research assignments , and collect and analyze data . We approached this project with creativity , teamwork , and flexibility . The partnership allowed us to work together harmoniously in an effort to improve the students ’ experiences and understanding of information literacy ."
