Broadening the mind with Keele’s
Study Abroad Programme
Over the years many KMS students have chosen to broaden their horizons, and their minds, with
Keele’s Study Abroad Opportunities (and have had a lot of fun in the process!). The Study Abroad
programme enables students to spend a semester, or even an academic year, studying at one of
Keele’s partner institutions around the world.
Students who have taken part have returned to the School eager to share their experiences:
BA Marketing and Psychology graduate,
Jacqui Harris felt that:
“It’s a totally invaluable experience. Not just for the ‘journey of development’
you’re setting off on, but because it’s such brilliant fun!
“When you hear the peer advisors come in to your lectures you see it so many
times and they’re all saying wow, it’s amazing, so good blah, blah, blah and
you instantly dismiss it, thinking “you’re going to another country, it’s not that
great.” But the truth is, I’ve been out here one month and I’m already in love
with the place, the people, the subjects, that I don’t want to even think about
going home. You can’t imagine what you’re going to see and do when you’re
sitting in the study abroad office, and even when you try it’s never as good as
what you actually experience when you’re out here!”

Patrice Downey, BA International Business with Media,
Communications and Culture, summed it up as:
“An adventure of a lifetime, it tested my independence and my spontaneity!
I have made friends from all over the world and understand different cultures.
I had an amazing experience travelling and at the university. The food was
good, the places were interesting and the people were awesome! I think it has
definitely changed me as a person. I have made memories and friends for life.”
