Supporting the
growth of local business
Keele Research and Innovation
Support Programme (KRISP)
is part funded by the European
Regional Development
Fund and Keele University
and supports local, small to
medium sized enterprises in
their development and launch
of new products and services.
Companies can benefit from the support
of a fully-funded Keele Innovation Team
comprising of one or two students or
graduates (each for 100 hours), an Innovation
Advisor and an Academic Supervisor.
Two examples of KRISP projects that illustrate
the benefits to businesses and students
alike are:

Jones and Clark have a solid reputation in
the supply, sourcing and management of
stock for major manufacturing, engineering
and fabrication companies. Their strategic
intent is to develop a new arm to their
business – a consultancy service offering
the redesign of a company’s stock
management process and the provision
of an outsourced procurement and stock
management capability.
The KRISP project was set up to define
the new value proposition and create
the marketing materials for its launch.
Tim Gerber-Mellish, a 3rd Year International
Business and International Relations student,
was recruited to undertake the project.
The KRISP project has been a great
personal and learning experience
working with a company to help
shape a part of their business that
is very personal to the Directors of
Jones and Clark. They have had a
vision for developing a consulting
line of business for over three years
and KRISP has enabled them to
have access to specific sales &
marketing experience to bring this
