Wcommitted suicide after failing to qualify the exams. Farhat ' s was not just an isolated case. Like him, eight more boys and girls tried to end their life after results were out- thus hinting how the cut throat competition has increased the stress among the valley ' s children.

Farhat, a resident of Padgampora village in south Kashmir, consumed poison after failing to qualify the exams. She was immediately rushed to hospital and shifted to Srinagar. At Shri Maharaja Hari Singh( SMHS) hospital in Srinagar, doctors declared her brought dead. But many others were lucky to be saved by the timely intervention of the doctors.
" It seems that she apparently took this extreme step because she failed to qualify her exams," a police official associated with the case said. " Of and on, there are such cases from different parts of valley where student attempt suicide after falling to show good performance in the exams ".
