Fernande Champagne
FERNANDE CHAMPAGNE
WEST STEWARTSTOWN – Fernande“ Fern” Germaine Champagne, 93, passed away on Sunday evening, June 5, 2016, at the Coös County Nursing Hospital in West Stewartstown after a long period of ill health and where she had been a resident for the past five years.
She was born in Saint-Isidore d’ Auckland, Québec, on April 26, 1923, the daughter of the late Octave and Delia( Pouliot) Brochu. She grew up in Saint-Isidore and was married there to Raymond T. Champagne on May 9, 1944.
The Champagnes moved their family to North Stratford in 1958. Fernande worked there for the Brown Company, later James River Corp., and the Campbell Stationery factory until her retirement. She loved to garden and spend time with her husband at their camp in Saint-Isidore. Fern enjoyed sewing in her younger years, and she continued to knit vests, afghans, mittens and socks until just a few months ago.
She moved to Colebrook in 1992, and obtained her driver’ s license at the age of 70.
She is survived by two daughters, Ginette( Richard) Provencher of Homosassa, Fla., and Gisele( William) Mountain of Homosassa; two sons, J. Andre( Kathy) Champagne of Groveton and Yvon C. Champagne of Manchester; a daughter-in-law, Pierrette“ Pete” Champagne of Colebrook; a brother, Jules Brochu of Saint-Isidore d’ Auckland, Que.; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Fern is preceded in death by her husband Raymond“ Tom” Champagne in 1990; a son, Gilles Champagne in 2009; six brothers, Philippe, Ernest, Lucien, Lionel, Armand, and Patrick Brochu; a step-grandson, Joshua in 2000; great-grandson Andre in 2006; and a step-granddaughter Katrina in 2014.
At her request, there are no public calling hours. A graveside interment service will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016, at 10 a. m. in St. Brendan’ s Catholic Cemetery in Colebrook.
Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Champagne may be made to the Two Rivers Ride for Cancer, c / o R. Mulliken, 53 Spring St., Colebrook, NH 03576.

Paul G. Smith
PAUL G. SMITH
LANCASTER – Paul G. Smith, 77, of Prospect Street, died at the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehabilitation Center early Sunday June 5, 2016 surrounded by his family.
Paul was born January 25, 1939 in Peru, Indiana, the son of George A. and Pearl I.( Boyles) Smith of Kokomo, In.
He had attended schools in Indiana, later enlisting in the U. S. Navy where he would continue on for 26 years of service. After serving numerous assignments both in the U. S. and overseas, Paul retired from the Navy in December of 1978, as a Chief Petty Officer.
On Sept. 8, 2000 he married Theresa Maurais in Peru, In., where he was employed as a security guard. Later he was transferred to Maine and more recently to Groveton.
Besides spending time with his family, he loved to tinker and spend time in his workshop.
He is survived by Theresa of Lancaster; a son Michael Smith and a daughter Christine Wray both of Texas, a stepson Shelton Loura of Jefferson and three stepdaughters, Yvette Carpenter of Auburn, Maine, Diane Brown of Dalton and Nancy Hughes of New Hampton, a sister Phyllis McCoy of Peru, In., along with four grandchildren, eleven step grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren,
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Martin Albert and Robert Smith.
Visiting hours will be held from 1-3 p. m. Sunday, June 12, at Bailey Funeral Home, 210 Main Street, Lancaster. Funeral services with full military honors will be held at the funeral home the same day at 3 p. m. Burial will take place at a later date.

James S. Cliche
JAMES S. CLICHE
LANCASTER – On June 5, 2016 the Lord took James S. Cliche. Jimmy, as everyone called him, was born on Jan. 8, 1934, in Whitefield to William J. and Hazel E.( Baldic) Cliche.
He attended the Whitefield School system and graduated in 1952. He worked for his father at the Mt. View Hotel, who was supervisor of painting and papering. In 1962 his father retired and Jimmy took over his position. In 1973 he left his job at the Mt. View and started his own business in the area doing painting, papering drywall and some carpentry.
In 1959 Jimmy married Priscilla A. Buteau in Lancaster. They lived in Lancaster and raised four children. Jimmy enjoyed being with his family, taking them on vacations in the summer. He liked golfing, hunting, fishing, bowling and traveling.
He leaves behind his four children, Bryan J. and his wife Judy, of Mn., Bruce J. and April of FL, Kathryn A. C. and husband Peter Landry of Nottingham and Andrew M. and his wife Margo of Lancaster, eight grandchildren, Daniel, Douglas, Daryll, Kyle, Mary, Hannah, Sabrina and Zachary, and four great grandchildren, Alyson, Kaiden, Everly and Tyler. Additionally he leaves behind his brother William J. and wife Trudy of FL, a sister Virginia of Vt. and a brother Valmore and wife Sue of Northumberland along with two godchildren, Diane LaDuke of Lancaster and Roger Daigle of Jefferson and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, one brother, one sister and a brother-in-law, a grandson Mason and a granddaughter Olivia.
Jimmy was a Roman Catholic and attended the Gate of Heaven parish at All Saints Church in Lancaster. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus, both third and fourth degree joining them
in 1962. He was both Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator, Financial Secretary and bingo chairman of the Lancaster Council. He later joined the Council in Groveton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a. m. on Monday June 13, 2016 at All Saints Church in Lancaster, followed by burial in St. Matthew’ s Cemetery in Whitefield. A luncheon will follow at the church hall.

LISA MARIE HART
GROVETON – Lisa Marie Hart, 39, of Groveton died peacefully June 3, 2016 at Dartmouth- Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon after a lengthy illness with her family by her side.
She was born June 26, 1976 in Lancaster. Lisa was a caring person with a very big heart. She was the best mother to her fur babies Kyle and Jackson. She is the beloved daughter of Richard W. and Kathleen M.( Simino) Hart, sister of Kari and Marshall Laundry III, Auntie of Luke, Kathleen, Brandon, Mackenzie, Evan, Kailene, Dylan, Kieyla and many of her friend’ s children. She also leaves behind some very special extended family members.
She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents Roger and Yoshiko Simino, paternal grandparents Esther and George Young and Ernest and Geraldine Hart.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 10, 2016 from 5-8 p. m. at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 2 p. m. in the Northumberland Cemetery.

BRADLEY EARL MOREY
STRATFORD – Bradley Earl Morey, 65 of Theberge Road, Stratford died suddenly on June 5, 2016 after a brief illness.
He was born on August 27, 1950 in Sutton, Vt. a son of the late Alvin and Gertrude( Degreenia) Morey. He was raised in Sutton and was a 1968 graduate of Lyndon Institute. He lived for many years in East Charleston, Vt. before moving to Titusville, Fla. where he lived for thirteen years before moving to Stratford one year ago.
Before retiring in 2013 he worked for 23 years for Ethan Allen. Bradley enjoyed motorcycle riding; fishing of all kinds and gardening. He loved being with his wife Bernice 24 / 7. They worked together and never went anywhere without the one another.
Brad is survived by his wife of 30 years Bernice S.( Santaw) Morey of Stratford; five children Jeffery Morey and wife Jessica and Veronica Maxwell and husband Chris all of Island Pond, VT; Laurie Glover of Pompano Beach, FL; Michael Glover and wife Bri-Anne of Milton, FL and William M. Glover of South Bridge, MA; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and one sister Joyce Simons of Vermont.
He was predeceased by one son Christopher Morey and one daughter Nicole Morey Bingham; his parents and one brother Irvin Morey.
There will be no services at this time. A celebration of Bradley’ s life will be held in July at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton.

GHISLAINE DUBOIS
JEFFERSON – Ghislaine Dubois, 88, died at her home in Riverton on Saturday, June 4, 2016, surrounded by her family.
She was born September 5, 1927 in Jefferson, to Wilfrid E. and Cora( Gagnon) Couture, the third of nine children
She had attended schools in Canada, including one year of high school as a boarding student at a convent. She married Victor Dubois on September 4, 1944.
A hard worker, Ghislaine had been employed at many jobs outside of her home over the years. She was a cook at a logging camp operated by her father, worked at Willey’ s Nursing Home in Jefferson, which is known today as the Applebrook Inn. She also worked at the Gilman Mill and in various shoe factories. In later years she was the housekeeper at the All Saint’ s Rectory in Lancaster, and enjoyed many years of membership in the Tabernacle Society. She was a devout Catholic and enjoyed helping to maintain St. Agnes Church in Jefferson, especially decorating for Christmas and preparing the linens and vestments for services.
