GOAT AUCTION Saturday sure went to the goats in St. Isidore de Clifton as we attended–for the very first time in our career–a goat auction at “Fermi Chevrerie des Beautes” located at 103 Perron Rd. in St. Isidore de Clifton. We arrived at around 11 a.m. to find a herd of 93 Boer goats, consisting of 60 goats in production, 20 kids, and 4 bucks consisting of 3 Boers and 1 Savana. This herd was owned by Mr. and Mrs. Gerard Pelletier, who have built u p a very productive and clean herd over the years. The bidding went wild with some selling close to $2000. The barn was full of cute faces checking out the visitors. All were trying to get their favorite goat with the special breeding and color to add to their herd. We know nothing about goats, but we do know we had a hard time not buying one ourselves. –Corey Bellam COMFORT COUNTRY AT FARMERS MARKET Comfort Country, comprised of Suzan Shute, Joann Gilman, Lee Baker, and Tim Berry, will be singing in harmony, yodelling, and playing guitar, mandolin, and bass at the Lancaster Farmers’ Market this Saturday, June 11. They will perform some of the favorites in the style of Alison Krauss, Linda Rondstat, the Louvin Brothers, and the Everly Brothers. All lifelong musicians, their meeting at local jam sessions brought together a wonderful blend of country, traditional, gospel, modern, and oldies. Joining together, they offer up good times and fantastic music. Lancaster Farmers’ Market is located at Centennial Park, from 9 to noon. While enjoying the music, stop by the booths of the all local vendors selling home grown food, hand made artisan items, fresh baked goods, a raffle where you can win a fantastic collection of items from the market vendors, and so much more. The market even accepts SNAP benefits. All of this could not be possible without the help of the market’s local sponsors’ generous support - The Center for Acupuncture, EXIT Realty, the Mountain View Grand Resort and Spa, and Lancaster Eye Care. For more information, email the market manager, Isaac Vars, at [email protected]. The Newport Area Community Orchestra held a concert on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at the United Church in Newport, Vt.
