Aviation department hosting airport meeting
The Oregon Department of Aviation ’ s open house where community members can provide feedback on the future of the Aurora state Airport will be held from 4-7 p . m . Thursday , June 13 at North Marion High School .
“ This open house provides an opportunity for the neighbors , PAC members , and other interested community members to learn about the project , including the preliminary alternatives for the Aurora State Airport Master Plan . All written and verbal comments collected during the open house will be included in the event Summary ,” a notice for the meeting reads . “ Thank you again for your continued interest in , and participation with , the Aurora State Airport Master Plan project .”

SpringRidge residents enjoy community life – and free golf !
For lifelong golfers Darrel Wells and Carl Hanacek , moving to SpringRidge at Charbonneau , an active retirement community in Wilsonville , was a hole-in-one . With the prestigious Charbonneau Country Club right in their backyard , they have found the perfect setting to nurture their passion for the game while embracing a maintenance-free retirement resort lifestyle surrounded by friends .
“ I started playing golf over 50 years ago , and it ’ s greatly enhanced my life ,” said Carl . “ Being able to hop on my golf cart and reach the course in just five minutes is fantastic . The community ’ s abundant services free up more time for golf , which I appreciate . It ’ s nice to play with neighbors and meet other members of the Charbonneau community at the golf club .”
Carl ’ s neighbor Darrel , who moved to SpringRidge two and a half years ago , has been playing golf for over 70 years , having discovered his love for the game at 15 .
“ SpringRidge ’ s proximity to the country club makes it very convenient for me to continue playing golf , plus a complimentary social membership is included in our monthly fee ,” said the former teacher who also coached a high school golf team . “ Golf has been more of a hobby than just recreation for me . The freedom to play as much golf as I want , along with the friendly environment created by residents and staff , and the relief of not having to worry about yard work or home repairs anymore , makes every day feel like a perpetual vacation .”
SpringRidge also offers a golf cart garage , providing a secure area for residents to store their golf carts and equipment .
Both golfers emphasize the health benefits of golfing . “ As you get older , you need to move . Golf is the perfect example of what I can do to keep up physical exercise while staying in shape doing something I truly enjoy ,” Carl remarked .
Beyond the golf course , Darrel and Carl immerse themselves in the many programs , activities and special events offered at SpringRidge . They both play bridge and are on the community ’ s hospitality committee . Darrel also looks forward to live music on Fridays .
“ You can be as busy or as relaxed as you wish here ,” Darrel said . “ All you have to say is ‘ I want to ’ and there ’ s an activity to match your interest . We love living here and taking advantage of the many benefits , such as chef-prepared meals and housekeeping .”
