We held our last gathering until September in May

Our last gathering until September was a happy hour in our dining room on May 13 . The tables were decorated with yellow
HUBER mums in stemmed glasses with lemons and limes . Delicious , heavy hors d ’ oeuvres included stuffed mushrooms , bacon-wrapped dates , fruit skewers , shrimp cocktails , a charcuterie tray , caprese skewers , etc . — all catered by The Market Café . The wine served by our hospitality committee including Mary Costa and Shandy Shaner . Photos from this year were presented on the screen while we moved from table to table or standing group to group . It was fabulous to see all the mingling and many attendees commented that they had met several

Charbonneau Women ’ s Golf Association

By PATRICIA BOOK

Let the celebrations begin

Where were you in 1973 ? Most of the women of CWGA were in high school , college , starting a family or a career . Little did we know back then that one day we would belong
BOOK to a club that began with 27 women golfers and has grown into 119 members . As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of our organization there is much to learn about the history of the Charbonneau Ladies Golf Association ( CLGA ) and women ’ s golf in general . More about that in a future edition .
On the first Thursday of every month CWGA hosts a golf scramble and a general meeting during a breakfast , lunch or dinner . While the weather did not cooperate with the golf scrambles for April and May , the general meetings gave us the opportunity to begin our 50th anniversary celebration . Members received a new golf towel with our beautiful new logo designed by Cathi McClain . At the next general meeting members were treated to a slide show game of “ Who Is It ” featuring 1970s photos of current CWGA members . Here is a glimpse of one of our co-presidents in the 1970s . Did you notice the temporary change in my picture as author of this column ? Great fun was had by all as we compared similar styles regardless of a variety of geographic locations . Not all of us grew up in the Northwest ! We can ’ t wait to see what 50th anniversary tidbit we will celebrate at the June scramble and general meeting “ Happy Flippin ’ Summer .” Of course , we look forward to all future general meetings as we continue to build on our 50th anniversary celebrations and learn more about the women who began our club and how our story unfolds with women ’ s golf history and the history of Charbonneau Golf Chub .
As the weather improves and we are less concerned with last-minute golf cancellations , many CWGA members are getting two rounds of golf in a week with the addition of Tuesday play days . In fact , even with the not so cooperative weather , as of May 1 we have had a total of 84 members play on Tuesdays and 113 members play on Thursdays . Not so bad when you look at the amount of rain we have had all of April . Hopefully with all this golf and some great days in May we will be ready for the CWGA Partner ’ s Tournament on June 13 and the Handicap Tournament , July 13 and 14 .
