IF YOU DO IT, START SLOWLY AND ENJOY IT 2
That doesn’ t mean you shouldn’ t exercise, if that’ s what you want to do. But recognizing that it’ s optional and not necessary for your weight loss success, frees you to do what you like to do for exercise. You don’ t have to join a gym or do that 60 minute Boot Camp class if you don’ t truly want to. Instead, if you like, you can take a 10 or 15 minute walk in the evening at dusk. Or do some gentle stretching in your living room in the morning. Maybe some light weight lifting. Or choose a swim class. Or boxing. Or skating. Or nothing at all. Now you can focus on what movement makes you feel good and not just what burns the most calories.
Many people find that making exercise pleasant and increasing time or intensity when you feel ready, is the key to moving into an active lifestyle. In short: if you like it, you’ ll keep doing it. If you hate it, you’ re likely to quit. So make whatever you do something that you are enjoying.
