New crosswalks make French Prairie safer

Every time I drive down French Prairie Road I think of Steve Switzer , our recently passed friend and former Charbonneau Country Club Board member . That ’ s because every day I drive over at least

WALKER one of the seven bright , new , much needed and greatly appreciated crosswalks recently installed by the city of Wilsonville .

Installing these crosswalks was Steve ’ s number one initiative when he joined the board several years ago . While we ’ re grateful to now have them , along with the new signage indicating the pedestrian crossings , it ’ s unfortunate that this project wasn ’ t completed before Steve ’ s passing . Think about Steve ’ s contribution when you drive along French Prairie .

This will be my last column as chair of the CCC Communications Committee . I ’ m pleased to announce that new board member Laura Schott has been selected as the new chair of the committee . Laura is a woman of many dimensions . She is a real estate agent , media and operations consultant with Windermere NW Living Realtors , the head coach of the George Fox Women ’ s Soccer program and the former director of the Portland Thorns professional soccer team development . Her connection to soccer stems from a stellar high school and collegiate career , including playing on the U . S . Women ’ s National Team , among others . She is a longtime resident who grew up in Charbonneau and who has built and led winning teams throughout her career . We ’ re confident she will do the same as the new chair of the Communications Committee . More information about Laura can be found elsewhere in this issue .

He currently serves as the Architectural Committee Chair for Louvonne , and wanted to be of greater service to the Charbonneau community . Ted has a strong background in communications , having edited a dozen monthly newsletters on economic conditions at the

state and county level , writing monthly press releases for the governor . He has also been an entrepreneur , building a natural foods distribution company and working in sales management in the Oregon nursery industry . Welcome Laura and Ted !

see the place ( before I die ??), thus the reason for my trip . If you ever wanted to be a million miles from nowhere , this is the place ! There ’ s a whole lot of absolutely nothing which apparently makes him and his wife incredibly happy . I guess there is a certain beauty in the barrenness of the area , but , truthfully , there ’ s a good reason

I live in Oregon !

They currently have chickens , ducks , pigeons ( note the Avian theme ?) and , the day after I left , they purchased three piglets . When I phoned to thank them for the wonderful visit , I asked if they had brought the pigs home . The answer was “ Yessirree .” Here ’ s the part where you are supposed to smile . Are you wondering what they named them ? Two girl piggies are Violet and Snapdragon . The male piggy is , drum roll please , SIR OINKSALOT . Priceless . Have a happy , healthy summer !
