July 2023 THE CHARBONNEAU VILLAGER 3

Connections

 From Page 2
that allow for mutual kindness and respect . It takes a village , and a village is diverse and inclusive . So , I ’ m pleased about this direction . The Villager has become more engaging and inclusive in language and content over the past couple of years . I ’ d like to see that trend continue . For a long time , it was pretty golf-centered . Golf is an important part of the community , but broadening is good for things overall .
Q : What do you have to offer the community / your neighbors ?
A : I taught drawing classes at the Activity Center at one time , earlier in my residency here . I ’ d be happy to apply those art education skills again and offer those types of activities for kids . I ’ m also up for playing some part in the visioning and planning of new intergenerational activities .
Q : What might you appreciate receiving from the community / your neighbors ?
A : I ask that we all keep waving and smiling to one another ! We can all do our part to keep cultivating a culture of safety , friendliness , openness and recognition of others . When I go on my walks and see waving and smiling neighbors , it makes me deeply appreciate living here .

Do you know of a Charbonneau resident or family that we might feature in this column ? Please feel free to suggest them . Dana Brenner , dbrenkel @ gmail . com
We are particularly interested in featuring voices not heard as often here and not as engaged in the community as they could be- younger residents , renters , condo dwellers , families , grandparents involved in caring for grandchildren , residents of diverse backgrounds . This is part of a burgeoning effort to create a more inclusive and connected culture .
