Chinese Cultural Society
In 2024 , the Chinese Cultural Society ( CCS ) actively engaged in a range of initiatives aimed at celebrating and promoting cultural identity through enriching and meaningful experiences .
In March , Joel Lim ( MN201 ) attended a Public Service Advertisement Workshop , organised by CPCLL , SPH , and FM100.3 radio station . Under the guidance of industry professionals , students had the opportunity to explore their creativity in writing and producing public service advertisements , with a particular focus on the theme of “ Addiction .” Participants also learned techniques to effectively engage listeners through voice modulation .
In April , the CCS participated in the prestigious “ Script It Right ” Chinese Radio Drama Script Writing Competition , organised by the Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning ( CPCLL ). Out of 664 participants from 62 schools and 292 entries , the CCS submitted six scripts and secured two Consolation Prizes and an Outstanding Script Award . The winning script by Oon Jun Da Jaren ( ML302 ) was broadcast on UFM 100.3 throughout July , providing members with valuable insights into the world of radio drama .
In May , five CCS members took part in the Voice Talent Training Camp , also organised by CPCLL , SPH , and FM100.3 . The participants were excited to develop their radio drama performance skills and had the opportunity to record in a professional studio setting .
In Term 2 , CCS members broadened their understanding of Chinese culture by learning Wushu under the instruction of skilled trainers . In Term 3 , members explored the art of Chinese drumming . Over three sessions , they learned various drumming techniques , culminating in a performance of “ Rolling Walnuts .”
Through these diverse activities , the Chinese Cultural Society fostered a strong sense of cultural pride and personal growth .
