Professional Learning in Action SJI Learning Festival 2024 Sharing and Growing Together
In 2024 , SJI educators continued to embrace professional growth with a focus on deepening connections with the broader education fraternity and trailblazing innovations to develop 21st-century competencies in our learners . From exploring the role of artificial intelligence in education to integrating educational technology into their practices , our educators demonstrated a strong commitment to being relevant and impactful in their work . By embodying a spirit of curiosity and passion for learning they have modelled a culture of lifelong learning and fostered an environment where teachers and students journey and thrive together through inquiry and discovery . Indeed , we are proud of them !
A significant milestone for our educators this year is the SJI Learning Festival 2024 . Held on 17 July 2024 , it brought together over 300 participants from more than 50 local and international schools . The theme , Celebrating Innovative Practices to Nurture Future-ready Learners , underscored our intent to promote exchange of innovative ideas and effective practices for equipping students to thrive in a rapidly changing world .
For the first time in the Learning Festival , SJI educators opened their classrooms to fellow educators , focusing on lesson practices to equip students with question formulation skills to develop adaptive and inventive thinkers . Presenters from 15 schools led 20 concurrent sessions , sparking rich and dynamic discussions on diverse topics such as the use of artificial intelligence for learning , fostering sustainability in schools and leveraging computational thinking .
This year , our teachers have been actively contributing and sharing their professional expertise while learning from others at multiple local and international platforms such as conferences and workshops . In addition , they have created opportunities to bring together practitioners from various schools to exchange ideas and practices , fostering a spirit of mutual growth . For example , the Theory of Knowledge department hosted its inaugural Network Seminar to gather teachers from local and international schools to learn from one another .
By sharing their successes , challenges and insights , SJI educators have not only contributed to the collective knowledge of the teaching community , but have benefitted themselves by building networks with other educators , exploring collaboration opportunities and exchanging ideas and resources . In doing so , SJI teachers have empowered themselves and their peers to rethink classroom strategies and embrace creative approaches for the benefit of nurturing our students .
