On April 17 , Year 3 OPAM students ventured beyond their classrooms to explore Little India and the Singapore River as they embarked on an immersive learning journey designed to foster ASEAN consciousness .
Navigating these historic sites , Josephians delved into the area ’ s rich history and geography while forging a sense of connection with their surroundings , deepening their understanding of Singapore ’ s multicultural fabric . The bustling Tekka Market in Little India left a lasting impression
with its sensory feast while at the Singapore River , students gained insights into the waterway ’ s pivotal role in the nation ’ s development and its ties with ASEAN countries .
This journey instilled a profound appreciation for Singapore ’ s multifaceted relationship with ASEAN , cultivating a regional consciousness that will undoubtedly shape these young minds for years to come .
Mathematics and Science Experiential Learning Journey
In August , Year 3 OP students participated in an engaging Maths and Science Experiential Learning Journey at Gardens by the Bay . This activity was a collaboration between the Mathematics and Science departments , designed to ignite student interest in these subjects by demonstrating their relevance in the real world .
Working in teams , students collaborated to discuss key concepts and solve problems , reinforcing their understanding while promoting teamwork . This not only strengthened their grasp of Mathematics and Science but also fostered essential skills such as communication and critical thinking . By integrating
experiential learning with real-world applications , this activity aimed to inspire students to view Mathematics and Science through a different lens , emphasising their practical importance .
The journey not only enriched the students ’ educational experience but also aimed to cultivate a sense of curiosity and passion for these subjects , potentially guiding them towards future careers in Science and Mathematics .
