LEARNING BEYOND THE CLASSROOM |

Curriculum + is a signature programme within SJI ’ s Secondary Education Certificate , crafted to go beyond the boundaries of national examinations and prepare our students to be futureready . The programme emphasises cognitive development through the Levels of Learning framework . It features two main components for the Year 3 students : Project Work , where students engage in collaborative , hands-on projects that spark creativity |
and critical thinking , and electives in Entrepreneurship and Programming , designed to cultivate innovative problem-solving and real-world skills . By promoting collaboration , self-directed learning , inventive thinking , and a strong service orientation , Curriculum + empowers students to explore their passions , apply their knowledge in meaningful ways , and ignite a lifelong love of learning that reaches far beyond the classroom . |
In the second semester , Year 3 students can choose between two electives : Entrepreneurship Unlocked or Python Programming . Each elective is designed to foster emerging 21st-century skills and competencies through an eightweek programme . |

PROJECT WORK provides Josephians with a dynamic , collaborative platform to explore a theme of their interest , seamlessly integrating knowledge from diverse fields to devise innovative solutions to real-world challenges . This interdisciplinary journey fosters the development of critical 21st-century skills , including self-directed learning , analytical thinking , and articulate communication . More than just an academic exercise , PROJECT WORK empowers students to engage deeply with pressing contemporary issues , equipping them with the skills and confidence to excel in their post-secondary pursuits . |
This elective introduces students to the fundamentals of entrepreneurship , with a focus on using the Lean Canvas framework to break down business ideas into essential components . Through this process , students enhance their analytical and strategic thinking skills . They are encouraged to identify real-world problems and develop innovative solutions , fostering confidence , resilience , and a growth mindset . These skills are especially crucial for addressing global challenges , such as climate change . |

At the conclusion of Semester 1 , students proudly present their action products , evaluated through comprehensive rubrics that emphasise not only the depth of their research but also the clarity of their communication and the impact of their presentation . Exceptional groups are invited to participate in the prestigious SPECIAL PROGRAMME EXHIBITION DAY , where they have the unique opportunity to showcase their projects to an audience of peers , schoolmates , and educators — celebrating their hard work and creativity on a broader stage . |

Python Programming
This elective develops students in learning how to code in Python programming language and using code to interact with physical devices such as microcontrollers , servo motors and sensors . Using elements in the Design Thinking framework , the elective encourages students to think critically and logically in problem solving when they work on a project at the end of the course . This will allow students to develop their resilience , problem solving skills , computational thinking skills and appreciate teamwork .
