Visual Arts

The Visual Arts Club ( VAC ) is a creativity CAS that provides students with the opportunity to learn art making skills and mediums as well as to lead and serve through community art projects . For 2023 – 24 , the art making modules were designed and facilitated by the EXCO led by President Ng Yu Tong ( ML613 ), Vice-President Xu He ( MN617 ), Jeff Chan ( LE610 ), and Keagan Goh ( ML613 ).
Diorama Session
VAC conducted art making sessions to learn about mediums such as digital art making , pen illustration and clay , explored concepts such as impressionism , and learnt how to build dioramas . It is particularly noteworthy that this year ’ s VAC explored the bonds of community , and this allowed the EXCO to embark on two service projects : Origami folding at at Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital @ Potong Pasir ( KWSH ), where students from VAC and Fidei came together to teach origami to the elderly , and CURATE !, a collaborative interschool Art programme to connect passionate students with keen interest in the Arts to experience the joy of art-making and curation .
Origami folding at KWSH is a collaborative programme with Fidei groups that encourages the joy of art-making through service to the community . Together , they prepared and conducted origami art making sessions for the elderly community . Through this , the VAC team broadened their perspectives of art and service , and developed a deeper awareness of society , and empathy for the elderly . The project saw different levels coming together to lend their time to teach the elderly origami .

CURATE ! saw the VAC members working together with students from other schools as well as curator mentor , Daniel Chong , to put together an inter-school art exhibition . They worked on curatorial projects , mentorship and participated in art workshops . Through this , the VAC team hopes to inspire a deeper understanding of society , community , leadership and service through art .
