Badminton
Welcoming the new members of our CAS in term 3 .
The Badminton CAS is a recreational and modular activity CAS that aims to introduce the sport to beginners . This Activity CAS teaches members the rudimentary skills and strategies in Badminton . Above and beyond , members are encouraged to appreciate the value of teamwork and tenacity .
During the weekly two-hour training sessions , badminton members are able to learn the essential skills of badminton under the guidance of our two badminton coaches . These skills include footwork , which teaches the members to move efficiently and strategically around the court , as well as the backhand and forehand serves , lobbing , and lifting . These drills help members reinforce their learning and allow them to put it into practice for friendly matches . Additionally , these drills are also opportune for the Badminton members to develop their physical abilities and improve their stamina as it challenges them both physically and mentally .
A key aspect of the Badminton CAS is its members . In addition to developing technical skills , members are encouraged to forge and strengthen connections . By engaging in gameplay with fellow members , they are able to connect with new people and enjoy themselves at the same time . Through these friendly matches , Badminton members are able to build teamwork and establish good rapport with one another . Moreover , they also develop sportsmanship which can be seen at the end of these matches .
Lastly , the badminton CAS aids its members in achieving personal growth . Members become more resilient after each rigorous training session . After several sessions of honing their skills , when members find themselves able to perform a complicated serve , or defend against an attack , they would feel a swell of pride over their accomplishment . Looking back , members would be able to see their growth . This newfound mastery extends beyond the court , as members can realise their capacity to learn , grow and succeed in other endeavours as well .
