Society of International & Current Affairs ( SICA )
SICA ( Society of International Current Affairs ) members actively participated in and excelled at various Model United Nations ( MUN ) conferences in Singapore , engaging in discussions and debates on pressing global issues . Their dedication and exceptional abilities earned SJI ’ s delegation awards , including Best School Delegation and individual accolades , despite strong competition from top schools .
At the Singapore Model Cabinet 2024 , Ryan Tan Sen Gin ( LE606 ) and Ray Khoo Yong Ler ( ML614 ) achieved Outstanding Representative for Cabinet C , representing the Monetary Authority of Singapore .
At Singapore MUN 2024 , Akshath Balakrishan ( FN502 ) received an Honourable Mention , while SJI won the Best School Delegation Award at the International Model United Nations Conference ( IMUNC ) 2024 . Other achievements include Aiden Chee Jeun Hang ( FN501 ), who received a Verbal Commendation in the Disarmament and International Security Committee ( DISEC ); Elliot Navon Yu ( LE509 ), awarded Honourable Mention in the International Monetary Fund ( IMF ); and Ethan Gabriel Yu ( MN520 ), named Outstanding Delegate in the House of
Commons ( HOC ). Aarav Malik ( LE508 ) earned Best Delegate and Best Position Paper in the IMF .
SICA members also attended a Counter-Radicalisation workshop conducted by the Ministry of Education ( MOE ) and Ministry of Home Affairs ( MHA ). This workshop enhanced their awareness of radicalisation among youths in Singapore , which they shared through a presentation to the Year 5 and 6 cohorts . In addition , members moderated the annual SG-Perspectives talks , featuring Senior Minister of State Zaqy Mohamed for Year 6s and Ambassador A . Selvarajah from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ( MFA ) for Year 5s . Selected members also joined a small group discussion with Ambassador Selvarajah , gaining valuable insights on foreign policy and geopolitics .
The year concluded with the annual SJI Model United Nations ( SJIMUN ). Open to Year 3 to Year 5 delegates , the conference introduced creative councils , from the Mongol invasion of Kievan Rus to global responses to Kaiju attacks . This lighter approach encouraged delegates to negotiate and collaborate in a more relaxed yet engaging setting .
