Literary Society
The SJI Literary Society is a vibrant community dedicated to fostering a love for literature and creative expression . Our members , drawn from Years 5 , share a passion for the written word and the power of storytelling . Through a diverse range of activities , we aim to inspire , engage , and empower our members to explore the depths of their creativity .
This year , the Literary Society has experienced significant growth , marked by a surge in creative output and a renewed sense of literary enthusiasm . A highlight of the year was the inaugural Creative Writing Competition , which attracted submissions from Years 1 to 6 across various genres , including poetry , short stories , and scripts . This competition showcased the immense talent within our community and provided a platform for young writers to share their work .
We are immensely proud of the progress made by our members , and we are committed to nurturing their literary aspirations . We encourage all our writers to continue exploring their passions and to strive for excellence . Whether it ’ s through writing for personal enjoyment or aiming for national recognition , the act of writing is a journey of selfdiscovery and artistic expression .
We believe that writing is not merely a skill but a powerful tool for self-reflection , empathy , and social change . By fostering a love for literature and creative writing , we hope to contribute to the growth of the literary arts at St . Joseph ’ s Institution and beyond .
A key initiative this year was a series of six-month creative writing workshops conducted by the esteemed spoken word poet , Jennifer Anne Champion . These workshops provided invaluable guidance and inspiration , equipping our members with the tools to refine their craft and develop their unique voices .
