Film Club

The club started 2024 with introductory film sessions by Year 6 members on multiple aspects of filmmaking for its members , introducing topics such as shot composition and editing . The club also invited Guest Speaker Baha from Baha Video to impart knowledge on filming an Interview , as well as his experience with the local entertainment industry . These sessions provided invaluable filmmaking skills to the incoming club members , laying the groundwork for future endeavours in the club ’ s film production .
Film Club members have had a multitude of opportunities to test out their skills through filming various school events , including SJI ’ s Cross Country , Founders ’ Day and National Day Celebrations . The club also assisted in producing videos for different school activities , such as Concert Under The Stars ( CUTS ), Macbeth Soliloquies for Literature Festival 2024 , SJI ’ s Learning Festival Prelude Interviews , the Antigone
Play by ELL501S , and the Teachers ’ Day Comedy Video . These experiences have allowed members to both hone their filmmaking skills , as well as capture memories for the community to look back on in the future .
Club members have also participated in multiple filmmaking competitions thus far , including the Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival 2024 and the # YouthAgainstScams Video Competition by SPF . These endeavours acted as a stimulus for creative thinking , prompting members to consider the different aspects of film to express emotions and share messages within the community and beyond SJI .
With many more projects down the road , SJI ’ s Film Club looks forward in continuing to hone members ’ filmmaking and videography skills , allowing them to effectively capture memories and artistically express themselves through film .
