Professional Learning & Development

Living the SJI Significance Through Continual Professional Learning & Growth The strategic focus for 2019 was Living the SJI Significance , focusing on the heart of the Lasallian educator so that he or she can form our Josephians with values for life and nurture them to serve throughout their lives . The focus on Professional Development ( PD ) was thus aligned to foster greater staff ownership of their own PD growth by the 4Cs approach .
1 . CHALLENGE The 4Cs of Growth approach encourages our staff to pursue PD growth by taking on a PD Challenge . For example , during the past 2 years , Ms Tan Sia Hui challenged herself to apply what she has learnt about giftedness into the development of the Magis Talent Development Programme in SJI . She roped in several Department Heads to roll out subject-based Magis programmes within departments , and also presented the SJI Magis Programme at the Catholic Educational Conference in March 2019 with Mrs Vivian Tan and Mr Leonard Tan .
2 . COACHING Teachers in FPAM focused on Approaches to Learning ( ATL ), looking in depth into Research , Self Management and Thinking Skills . In OPAM , the PD focus was on Facilitating Project Work and Formative Assessment , while in IBAM , all the teachers attended a basic Research Methodology workshop .
The DoLs also conducted the Kouzes & Posner ( K & P ) Leadership Workshop for 46 Key Personnel in May 2019 . The workshop aimed to familiarize them with the 5 Practices of Exemplary Leadership .
