5 . Career Success – Year 4 IP ( Term 4 ) Junior Achievement ( JA ) Career Success is a series of six lessons that cover 4Cs ( critical thinking , communication , collaboration and creativity ), strong soft skills , work priorities , personal-brand and job-hunting tools — resumes , cover letters , interviews , and digital profiles . The Year 4 IP students participated in this programme and were awarded a certificate at the end of the programme .
8 . National Environment Agency ( NEA )
Attachment Programme Reuben Fong Shi Yu ( ML401 ) had the opportunity to learn and experience the real working life in the public sector and gain an understanding of the diverse work of NEA officers and their impact on Singapore and the environment . He also participated in an environmental-related project , job shadow an officer and visited various job sites under NEA ’ s purview . He was the only one out of 10 applicants who successfully secured a place in the NEA Attachment Programme that took place from 18 to 27 November 2019 .

6 . Learning Journey – Year 4 IP ( Term 4 ) On 30 October , the Year 4 IP students visited different companies where they had the chance to interact with the staff to learn about the different work demands and the skills needed to succeed in the workplace . The companies they visited were .

9 . Post Secondary Education Institutions ( PSEI ) Fair The 3rd PSEI Fair was held on 23 October . For the first time , parents were invited to join their son for the talks and visit the booths during the event . The Fair was a great way to discover the various post-secondary education pathways . PSEIs that were at the Fair included the Junior Colleges ( Anglo-Chinese JC , Hwa Chong Institution , Nanyang JC , Raffles Institution , St Andrew ’ s JC , Temasek JC ) and , Polytechnics ( Ngee Ann Polytechnic , Nanyang Polytechnic , Republic Polytechnic , Singapore Polytechnic , Temasek Polytechnic ) and Arts Institutions ; ( LaSalle College of the Arts and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts .

10 . Career Fair by Josephian At Large In collaboration with SJI Old Boys ’ Association ( OBA ), the school organised the annual event “ Career Fair by Josephians at Large ” ( JAL ) for all Year 3 students on 17 October . Old boys from various industries were invited to share about their field of work as well as provide insights into what it takes to succeed in one ’ s career .
7 . Career Coaching – YearSec 4 IP ( Term 4 ) Coaching is a process of unlocking a person ’ s potential to maximise his / her own performance . This programme leads the students in a thought-provoking and creative journey that inspires them to learn . It does not focus on the past or the ‘ here and now ’, but what the future holds . 30 students signed up for this pilot programme , where Career Coaches guided students using the Wheel of Life tool and through active listening and powerful questioning in order to achieve clarity about self : strengths , weaknesses , values and interests , finding a career path that best caters to his / her passion and to come up with an action plan to move the student towards his / her career . Through these four coaching sessions , the students gained greater clarity and were equipped with the necessary tools to create an action plan in line with the educational / career choices that they are passionate about and will potentially excel in .
