The Chinese cultural society is divided into two groups : Percussion and Drama . It is an aesthetic group which provides a platform to expose our students to a variety of Chinese cultural activities such as Chinese drama , script writing , reading musical scores and playing Chinese percussions .
St Theresa Home Performance : On 22nd of April , we went to St Theresa ’ s Home , along with other Performing Arts CCAs .
This was the most memorable debut performance of many of our Secondary One new CCS members , and they bravely usurped the stage with their seniors , giving their all . After the group performance , we also had an IB student , Ice breaker game on Orientation Day for Secondary Oh Wei Jin , reprising his role in CCS to play a solo Ones : Chan Zheng Jie , Gideon ( FN102 ) had failed to call out name of his senior Cai Lize ( ML302 ) part specially for the visit ! The senior folks had a wonderful time with the performances from our school !
SYF Youth Got Talent ! Select Showcases 2014 After attending an exhausting but confidence-building training sessions in February , we submitted the video recording of our percussion performance in mid -April , to participate in the SYF Youth Got The Talent ! Select Showcases 2014 . We were shortlisted for a live audition in June and on the 4th of July 2014 , we were honoured to be one of the performing teams for the SYF celebrations .
It was indeed a memorable experience as we had the chance to perform on an outdoor stage at Gardens By The Bay . Our performance piece was a folk song called “ Lion ”, which is the main theme piece for the year . With a large array of 20 to 30 drums , each member of the Chinese Cultural Society played vastly different roles in the song , learning to work with and thus complementing each others ’ parts . Nerves stretched to breaking point , we did our best , and in the end stood proudly on the stage and received a prize of participation for our efforts , concluding the anticipated prize-giving ceremony .
SYF Celebrations 2014 @ Jurong Regional Library In mid- April , our Drama team submitted a video recording of a skit to participate in the SYF Celebrations 2014 Open Call for Sing ! Read ! Dance ! Play ! in the Enchanted Garden .
We were happy to be invited to perform at the Jurong Regional Library .
On the 12th of July , our drama team performed “ A Crisis in the Examination Room ”, an original skit crafted by our team , at the Jurong Regional Library . We spent a huge amount of time and effort to put up this humourous play , and received a standing ovation for this .
