On the Field
The biggest highlight of the year is the ‘ B ’ Division players ’ debut at the National Inter- School Football Championship ( South Zone ). Despite facing older , stronger and tougher opponents from other schools , they were not intimidated . Instead , they were filled with courage and fought a good fight all the way till the end of the competition season . Both the ‘ B ’ and ‘ C ’ Division players played their hearts out to bring glory to SJI , giving it their all , aiming high as well as charging forward to tackle their opponents in all their matches .
Off the Field As part of Project Scubilion ( Values in Action ), the players spent 2 – 3 hours each week in Term 4 and the December holidays serving the less fortunate in the community . This year , we worked with Rainbow Centre ( Margaret Drive ) which supports children with special needs . The boys were given the opportunity to be the teachers ’ assistants and they worked hand in hand with the teachers to prepare teaching resources as well as conduct activities for the children . Apart from their involvement in the classroom , the boys also participated in the annual Use Your Hand Campaign where they helped to clean and spruce up the campus in preparation for the year 2015 . The SJI Football team hopes to have a long-term partnership with Rainbow Centre and we look forward to supporting them in their children ’ s programmes such as SpecFUN ( Swimming ) as well as A . R . T . S in the years to come .
