South Zone Competition
National Inter-school Badminton Competition 2014

The National Inter-school Badminton Competition , which was held from February to April , is definitely one of the major highlights of the year for the CCA . The team had trained exceptionally hard , especially since we had a change in training venue due to the shift from Malcom Road to Bishan campus . Although it was difficult to adjust to the new training setting , the team worked hand in hand with our coach as well as made full use of our available resources to produce a remarkable result of 3rd place for the ‘ B ’ Division and 4th place for the ‘ C ’ Division in the South Zone competition . Throughout the tournament period , it was heartwarming to see the team members encouraging each other to train harder , to persevere during training and especially during the games in which the team would cheer for everyone . Although we did not live up to expectations for the National Championships , everyone gave their all during the competition and we are thankful for every training session that has helped us mature as well as grow beyond being just badminton players , but also into men of responsibility , respect and resolve .

Badminton Inter-class Games
This year marks the 2nd year of running the Badminton Inter-Class Games . Unlike the other Inter-Class Games , the Badminton Inter-Class Games are run by the students of the Badminton CCA , with the teachers only vetting the plan . From the event , the team learnt a lot of important life skills such as time management , organizational skills and technical work . The team worked together to ensure the smooth running of the event , forging bonds and creating lasting memories in the process .
Friendly Competitions In preparation for the National Inter-School Championships later in the year , our coach had organized friendly games for the team where we were pitted against schools such as Saint Andrew ’ s Junior College ( SAJC ) and Nanyang Polytechnic ( NYP ). The team gained a lot of valuable knowledge from playing against teams that are older and more experienced than ourselves . This was an exceptional experience for us and brought positivity to the whole team .
Project Scubilion The team initiated community service projects with the I-CARE Mentoring Program at Townsville Primary during term 3 . We acted as mentors for the Primary 3 and 4 students by aiding them in their school work after lessons . This helped them to increase their academic performance and confidence . Service learning also helped the team to learn important values such as patience and commitment .
