Gymnastics
Gymnastics nearly met its fate of being closed down as a Co-Curricular Activity ( CCA ) during the 1998 to1999 . Thankfully with the employment of a new coach Mr Wang Kai Shun who had experience coaching the China National Girlsʼ Gymnastic Team , gymnastics began to show promise in competitions . From near closure , Gymnastics now excels namely in two events : artistic and trampoline and is now a core CCA in SJI .
Gymnastics is a sport that requires utmost strength , flexibility , balance , grace and concentration that can be done on different apparatuses ranging from : trampoline , parallel bars and rings etc . Under the

guiding hands of coaches Mr Xu Wen gang and Mr Yang Yong , the gymnasts trained very hard and some even took the initiative to go for extra classes to prepare for the competitions . Their perseverance paid off , winning not only medals but glory for SJI .

Artistic Gymnasts qualifying for Individual Apparatus Finals ( IAF ) This year , five SJI gymnasts competed in Individual Apparatus Finals ( IAF ). Eight gymnasts who obtained the highest scores on each apparatus ( with a maximum of two gymnasts per school in the Team / All-Around Competition ) would qualify for the IAF Competition . The ranking of the five SJI gymnasts are as follows :
