Football
After a 13-year football hiatus , our Football has returned to SJI and will attempt to revive the days of glory in the ʻ60s and ʻ70s .
A Humble but Hopeful Beginning The team , comprising 4 Secondary Two and 13 Secondary One players began training in November 2011 to prepare themselves for the many competitions ahead . Despite realising they will be encountering teams with older boys , they remain undaunted and knowing with hard work and determination , they would still make it and bring glory to the school .
Charity Tournament and Other Events Held on 27 May , the team played well and managed to raise close to $ 16000 for The Rainbow Centre . The money collected would go a long way in helping the centre to run its programmes for the less fortunate .
Beyond the field , the players served the community by hosting Soccer ( Legions of Lion ) Talk cum the launch of the book 50 Greatest Moments in Singapore Football where they ushered participants and guests in SJI and football matches on Founder ’ s Day where they organised and executed the whole event with minimal supervision .
They also attended a talk by legendary footballer Fandi Ahmad , from whom they drew inspiration and motivation .
The team is privileged to be under Coach Kadir Yahya who is presently the assistant coach of the Singapore LionXII has brought with him a wealth of coaching experience . With his commitment and guidance , our boys will soar to greater heights in the years to come .
